How often should I have my car air-conditioning serviced?

At McMillan Specialist Cars, we recommend a re-gas approximately every 2 years to make sure that your air conditioning system not only keeps you warm in winter and cool in summer but importantly, is able to efficiently demist the windows and keep the windscreen clear so that your visibility is not compromised. At McMillan Specialist Cars we can regas with the older R134a gas or the newer R1234yf gas.

Air conditioning can leak around 10–15% each year and left untreated can contribute to inefficient interior cooling and increased fuel consumption due to extra pressure on the compressor. At the same time as re-gassing the air conditioning system, we recommend treating the system to remove any bacteria that has built up over time as this will eventually give off nasty odours and can even cause allergic reactions. The treatment cleans the air-conditioning system which will vastly improve the quality of the air in your car and get rid of any unwanted odours.
